Axle
The EntrexGuard axle is robust and heavy duty, fully up to the task of operating the large retail closures up and down for years, enduring daily wear and tear.
The axle is hidden out of sight and above the ceiling, providing for a clean looking retail security closure that coils up and disappears during business hours.
Operation
EntrexGuard shutters have two operation options: paddle switch or key switch. Both of these options allow you to open, close, or stop the shutter at any position.
The paddle switch is a low-profile option featuring a standard paddle switch design. This option allows you to operate the shutter either up or down by simply pressing the paddle.
The key switch offers great security by requiring a key to operate the shutter. Turning the key either direction will operate the shutter up or down; putting the key in the neutral position will stop the shutter.
Bottom Bar
There are two bottom bar options for EntrexGuard rolling shutters:
- Heavy Duty 75 mm Bottom Bar
- Heavy Duty 100 mm Bottom Bar
Each of these bottom bar options are used based on the curtain series being used and the strength required for your shutter. The bottom bars are constructed of extruded aluminum, with an attractive powder-coated finish with many color options. Multiple bottom bar locks are available to secure the shutter to the highest level.
The Standard Bottom Bar options provide a sleek, low profile design while maintaining a high level of security.
The Heavy Duty Bottom Bar is an extremely strong option used for application requiring the highest level of security.
Guide Rails
There are seven guide rail options for DefendaGuard rolling shutters:
- Standard 64 mm Guide Rail
- Standard 83 mm Guide Rail
- AnchorLoc 83 mm Guide Rail (End-Retention)
Standard Guide Rails provide immense strength with two size options used based on the curtain series needed.
AnchorLoc Guide Rails feature our end-retention system, providing an extreme level of strength for the shutter curtain, making it near-impossible to force the curtain out of the guide rails. This system consists of anchors that are attached to the curtain at regular intervals and fastened to the guide rails to prevent the curtain from potentially being forced out of the guide rails.

Emergency Egress
Emergency egress is an optional safety feature for the EntrexGuard system. Emergency egress is activated by simply pulling the switch, and the shutter will quickly be released to allow safe exit or prevent injury.
Coil
The curtain of an EntrexGuard shutter is coiled up on an axle. The axle is hidden out of sight and above the ceiling, providing for a clean looking retail security closure that coils up and disappears during business hours.
Pentagon's EntrexGuard retail closures require very little space above the ceiling due to our extensive innovation of the curtain, allowing it to roll up into the smallest coil possible. This makes it mush easier to use EntrexGuard closures for both new and retrofit applications.
Jackshaft Motor
EntrexGuard closures are operated with a jackshaft motor. A jackshaft, also called a countershaft, is a common mechanical design component used to transfer or synchronize rotational force in a machine.
The jackshaft motor will rotate the axle, which brings the curtain up and coils it around the axle until it is in the open position, out of sight and above the ceiling.
